Airlie Primary School was identified by Angus Council for redevelopment to bring it up to a standard commensurate with 21st century teaching and learning. The project involved a comprehensive programme of demolition, refurbishment and extension of the existing school. The brief for the new build element included the provision of three classrooms and a nursery along with an ICT suite and resources centre. Improved thermal insulation, in excess of current standards, helps to provide a comfortable learning environment. Care was taken to ensure a low carbon footprint through the use of low embodied energy materials.
