Anton House, Broughty Ferry

The design proposals consisted of the development of two modern residential dwellings on a small parcel of land adjacent to Anton House in Broughty Ferry, Dundee. The design philosophy was for the creation of a modern living environment based around a centralised family space (kitchen/dining/living) with direct access to a garden court. Detailing was kept clean and simple with the predominant use of brick augmented with smaller timber and zinc features.

Environmentally the focus was on fabric first with a tight and well-insulated thermal envelope designed to reduce reliance on fossil fuels with the inclusion of ASHP and PV’s. Careful consideration was given to orientation of the building in order to maximise solar gain and take advantage of the spectacular views over the Tay estuary to the south, and green roofs for attenuation of rainwater.
