Wellwood Leslie Architects (undertaken as KDM Architects Ltd) were employed by Robertson Partnership Homes under a full-service Design and Build appointment to design 40 Houses and flats of varying types and sizes.

The design team in conjunction with the contractor came up with a few innovative ideas to overcome several challenges. The new access roadway was set out along the length of the contours and not against them as this would have resulted in very costly construction issues and difficulties in achieving barrier free access. Various retaining measures were adopted to allow the new housing to be set into the sloping topography of the site negating any access issues and providing level garden areas.

All dwellings have been designed to fully meet the requirements of Housing for Varying Needs, and the project achieved a gold standard for Secure By Design, flats were also designed to the "Greener Standard" ensuring that higher grant subsides were allocated from the Scottish Government.
