Glasgow Golf Club

Wellwood Leslie have undertaken a project for Glasgow Golf Club to reinstate the fire damaged Killermont House, a late Georgian Country House, as a golf clubhouse appropriate for 21st century use.

As part of the fire reinstatement, an extension has been formed which offers a deferential contrast to the principal building. The character and appearance of the existing building are protected by offering a distinct contrast in material and detail, allowing the proportion and scale of the existing building on its East and West façades to be clearly read.

The proposed design creates a new central approach and entrance to the building from the north side. The new entrance reflects the classical formal entrance to the building to the south side but in a contrasting, contemporary manner. The modern materials of the proposed extension provide a clear contrast with the original stone and slate ensuring that the old and new elements of the building can be clearly read.
