Clepington Road planning approval by Wellwood Leslie Architects

We are delighted to obtain planning approval for the development of 31no. affordable rented residential units on Clepington Road in Dundee. This development provides much-needed affordable housing for the city and is a partnership between Campion Homes and Abertay Housing Association.

The development offers a variety of 2 & 3-bed houses as well as cottage flats and a single wheelchair accessible bungalow. Several units are designed to allow future adaptation to meet the needs of ambulant disabled users should this be required.

As part of the sustainability requirements, a fabric first design approach was taken to the design of these dwellings, which are all to silver standard aspects 1&2. Heating and hot water are provided by air source heat pumps with energy use offset from micro renewable energy generation through roof mounted photovoltaics. EV charging infrastructure is provided to each dwelling to allow future installation of charging points by the occupants.

Careful consideration was given to the ecology of the site to enhance biodiversity. Integration and extension of the adjacent Miley Nature Reserve into the site also sought to enhance use of this beneficial green asset for residents. Greenspace on the site accounts for around 27% of the overall site area with garden ground boosting this to well over 50%, therefore offering an overall net gain in biodiversity.
